Former WWE star Toni Storm has told Busted Open Radio that she "just freaked out and went home".

Storm shocked the entire wrestling world by leaving the company on her own terms in late-December 2021. Few could've claimed to see that departure coming, but pretty much everybody called a leap to AEW once Toni was free of WWE's system.

The current All Elite worker described the split as amicable - she said she "didn’t leave on bad terms", and still has a lot of admiration for the men and women who work in WWE. Despite that, Storm also suddenly realised that she didn't want to be there.

WWE is something Toni "might have romanticised as a child and thought was [her] dream". She believed she "had to be" in the promotion to be taken seriously and accomplish all of her goals. It became evident that this wasn't the case.

Storm just wants to be a pro wrestler, and she can be one outside Vince McMahon's walls.

Summing it up, Toni said: "That wasn't my place". She's much happier doing her own thing, and striving to be the best she can be in AEW.
