New AEW signings FTR have revealed a backstage incident with Vince McMahon that took place after a match with the New Day during their tenure in WWE.

In an appearance on Jim Cornette's podcast, Dax Wilder explained that the team were walking in the back after a match when they saw the Chairman of the Board with his hands in his pockets.

"One thing I'll never forget he said, he looked at me and Cash and he said, "Everyone tells me you are the next Arn and Tully, you're the next great tag team. Well, that's the problem, you guys aren't Arn and Tully, you're just great professional wrestlers." And to me and Cash, we took that beaming with pride, he meant it as an insult.

Initially taking McMahon's comments as a compliment, Wilder noted that he later realised that Vince was saying that the Revival would never reach the legendary heights of the former Horsemen in the ring. Dax also went on to note that while Vince just didn't seem to "get" the pair during their six-year stint in the company, that there were no hard feelings on either side.

The pair also recently revealed that they are still in negotiations with AEW over a long-term contract, and are currently appearing in the company on a "handshake deal", leaving open the possibility that the pair may opt for a deal similar to fellow AEW stars such as Jon Moxley and Chirs Jericho, who are permitted to also appear in NJPW alongside their US bookings.
