Reigning NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and Bullet Club member Gabe Kidd has formally challenged WWE's Randy Orton to fly over to Japan and face him. Kidd is hardly a stranger to creating social media buzz with his mouth, but this is next level. A match vs. someone the standing of Orton is certainly nothing to sniff at, and the challenge already has people talking.

Kidd, who's never one to mince his words, posted on X that Randy should have a word with WWE boss Triple H and "come fight [him]" once he's healthy. Adding fuel to the fire, Gabe also said that Orton "could never do what [he does]". Finally, the Brit native told one of wrestling's best: "If you disagree, come do something".

Over to you, Randy. Well, over to WWE at least. There's a very slim chance of anything happening, which Kidd surely knows, but nobody can blame him for using socials as a way to drum up some interest in his own career. Gabe has gleaned some spotlight from jawing off with various AEW stars before, but now he's coming after some celebrated WWE legends.

Randy Orton Is Currently Off WWE TV

Randy is currently off-screen selling a vicious piledriver attack from Kevin Owens on the 8 November episode of SmackDown. That move is banned within the company, but Triple H's writers used it as a means to cement KO's heel turn mid-feud with Orton's ex-protege Cody Rhodes.

It worked a treat, but there's currently no definite timetable for Randy's return to action. He might be selling this neck injury for a while, put it that way. Eventually, he'll launch a comeback and go straight after Owens. Until then, there's next to no chance Orton will do any wrestling.

Obviously, that means he couldn't dash off to New Japan on a merry jaunt and wrestle Gabe Kidd. Again though, Kidd can't be blamed for doing everything in his power to put eyes on himself. Talking about the potential of working Randy is nothing new for Gabe either - he's been very open about wanting to wrestle the WWE great at Wrestle Kingdom 19 in January 2025 all year.

Orton has unfinished business (and an injury to sell) on WWE's side before anything of the sort would be possible.
