German Footballer Tim Wiese Set For Wrestling Career In WWE NXT

Capped for Germany, now he's going to be a wrestling superstar.

Retired German footballer Tim Wiese has been training at WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The 33 year old former goalkeeper was capped six times for the German national side, in addition to playing top flight club football with Werder Bremen. Meltzer reports that Wiese could be exactly what WWE are looking for. He's got the size and look WWE like, and is still young enough to have a solid career in pro wrestling. WWE have been looking for a German wrestling superstar for some time, and it looks like they've found their man. His relationship with the company actually goes back to last year. He was involved in WWE's November 2014 tour of Germany, working as guest timekeeper at the Frankfurt live event. The German WWE Twitter account, @WWEDeutschland, later announced that he'd signed with the company. Now that he's in Orlando, he'll have to learn the fundamentals of in-ring wrestling. When he's ready, he'll be promoted from the performance center to WWE's NXT show on WWE Network. The long term goal would be getting him over to the main Raw show, in order to maximise his value for increasing WWE's business in Germany.
