Goldberg returned to WWE TV on Friday's episode of SmackDown and challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Elimination Chamber.

WWE's next supershow takes place in Saudi Arabia on 19 February.

There had been reports that Goldberg would be making a company comeback in time for that international jaunt - when those rumours started, most expected that he'd be installed as Roman's next challenger. The former WCW man had previously been Reigns' scheduled opponent back at WrestleMania 36, but that match got scrapped a few few weeks before the event.

WWE are finally getting back around to it in 2022.

Goldberg interrupted Roman's show-opening promo alongside The Usos and Paul Heyman. He then went on to call Reigns his victim and said he'd take the Universal prize away from The Bloodline before they even got to 'Mania 38 in April.

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee naturally hyped the upcoming match as huge. This will be Goldberg's first bout since losing to Bobby Lashley back at Crown Jewel on 21 October 2021. His part-time World Title challenges have become a regular occurrence.

Elimination Chamber hosts the next one.
