Goldberg Set To Make Sudden WWE Return?

A coming WWE SmackDown coincides with one very special occasion for Goldberg.

Goldberg Debut Hugh Morrus

Brace yourselves.

It may be a complete coincidence, but a coming edition of SmackDown ties in with some massive Bill Goldberg history. The then-rookie made his WCW Nitro debut vs. Hugh Morrus on the group's 23 September 1997 episode, and it didn't take long before Bill was tearing it up near the top of company cards.

WWE has scheduled a SmackDown taping for 23 September 2022. Why is that so noteworthy, you ask? Well, the show takes place in Salt Lake City, which is the exact same place as Goldberg's debut 25 years ago. Some folks on social media believe that'll prompt WWE to celebrate Bill's legacy by booking a comeback.

Yes, another one.

Rey Mysterio's 20-year alliance with the promotion is set to be honoured in a few weeks at Madison Square Garden, so it's not out of the question that WWE would pay tribute to Goldberg too. However, it's only Rey's tenure with WWE that's being celebrated; his WCW run probably won't be discussed much.

It'd be a bit out of character for Vince McMahon to celebrate Goldberg's WCW landmark then. Don't totally rule it out though.
