With the 2021 edition of NXT's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic having got underway on tonight's episode of WWE's black and gold brand, the first match of this year's tournament saw the Grizzled Young Veterans get the W over Ever-Rise courtesy of the Ticket to Mayhem.

The early tournament favourite for many, the Grizzled Young Vets put down the entertaining underdog pairing of Chase Parker and Matt Martel in comprehensive fashion to get the Dusty Classic off to a strong start.

Post-match, Zack Gibson and James Drake talked trash and eyed the Dusty Classic Cup, and next up for them will be the winner of the Kushida and Leon Ruff vs. Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory bout which is expected to take place on next week's NXT offering.

Further Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic action takes place later tonight, with the Undisputed Era's Adam Cole and Roderick Strong vs. Breezango, and then the mysterious debuting "MSK" team taking on Jake Atlas and Isiah "Swerve" Scott.

For MSK, the speculation is that this team will in fact by Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz of the Rascalz.
