This legend will be looking to hold WWE gold for the first time since 2011.

With Elimination Chamber now in the rear-view mirror, Edge is set to challenge for Austin Theory's United States Title on this coming Monday's episode of Raw.

After Theory retained that prize in the titular men's Chamber bout at last night's Premium Live Event, he used the post-PLE press conference to throw out an open challenge for the US Championship on this next Raw offering.

Speaking at this press conference shortly after Theory, Edge took the opportunity to accept A-Town's challenge as he seeks to win his first slice of championship gold since having to vacate the World Heavyweight Title back in 2011. Of course, the vacating of that belt was due to the Rated-R Superstar being forced into retirement because of neck issues.

As Edge detailed in the fallout of Elimination Chamber:

"I saw the kid [Austin Theory] up here with the shades, 'cos I guess it's really bright. Man, an open challenge? We're in Ottawa Monday. I mean, I haven't wrestled there in probably 17 or 18 years. I haven't had gold for a while. I mean, I retired as World Heavyweight Champion. He was a Cena fan, so he's clearly stupid. Mind you, that being said, I respect Cena because he has work ethic, which is something I don't know Austin Theory has, and maybe we prove that Monday when I accept his US Open Challenge."

Should Theory indeed accept this challenge, this will mark the first time that he and Edge have shared a ring together. While the two were participants in this year's men's Royal Rumble, they didn't have an opportunity to cross paths before the WWE Hall of Famer was thrown over the top by his old Judgment Day pals.

As for Edge at Elimination Chamber, he and Beth Phoenix defeated Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley, with the Canadian securing the 1-2-3 after Balor was hit with the Shatter Machine move made famous by FTR.
