Has WWE Already Ditched The Viking Raiders' New Comedy Gimmick?

No sign of Erik and Ivar's Carpool Karaoke on last night's Raw.

It looks like WWE has already ditched whatever comedic repackaging they had planned for The Viking Raiders.

Last night's Raw saw Erik and Ivar cut a backstage promo that was truer to their characters than the Carpool Karaoke debacle of the previous show, with the duo stern and threatening as they stood before a bright red light, challenging Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits to a title match on next week's show.

Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford said "yes" later in the night, so the bout is now set for the Money In The Bank go-home.

The 20 April episode of Raw saw an ill-received segment in which the Vikings were riding around Florida in their car, singing, dancing, and having a merry old time. Both were wearing their entrance headgear and Ivar was munching from a humongous turkey leg. Speculation pointed towards the duo being saddled with the ropy comedy gimmick WWE reportedly had planned for The Revival before their departures, though it seems like the promotion has now decided to go in a different direction.

This is almost certainly for the best, as the comedy bit would have gone against everything that got them over in NXT.
