Sasha Banks appears NJPW-bound for now - but when did she engineer her WWE departure?

NJPW-bound Sasha Banks negotiated her WWE departure "months ago", per Fightful Select, adding that it likely happened around the time of Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri reporting Banks had been let go (16 June).

Despite all this (and the months of rumours that have followed Banks' Raw walkout in May), WWE is yet to officially confirm the multi-time Women's Champion's departure.

As Fightful has reported previously, Banks is able to take wrestling bookings from 1 January. This is a "contractual" issue that multiple groups who have attempted to book Sasha have run into - with some conventions going to "great lengths" to bring her in prior to this date.

Banks is due to appear for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on 4 January. On this, Fightful state that an agreement was reached in the last week of November, though whether or not Sasha will end up in AEW as well as its Japanese partner promotion remains unclear.

WWE audiences haven't seen Sasha since she and Naomi walked out during a Raw taping in May, resulting in the duo being stripped of their Women's Tag Team Championships and suspended indefinitely.
