AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch is pretty much "locked in" for WrestleMania 42, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select. As the website itself noted, this won't come as some big surprise to many - AJ going one on one with Becky has been on the cards since Lee memorably skipped back into view last year.

Her return to WWE was huge news when it happened, and this is really the match people have been waiting for. Previously, AJ and Lynch squared off in mixed tag-team action at Wrestlepalooza on 20 September 2025. There, Lee teamed with his husband CM Punk against Becky and her man Seth Rollins.

Then, the babyface went on to win a women's WarGames bout for her squad at Survivor Series on 29 November. She applied her Black Widow submission hold on Becks and made the heel tap out to a solid pop. The biggest challenge facing WWE creative will be heating things right back up again in time for 'Mania, but that's certainly achievable between now and early-April.

Some sort of interaction between Lee and Lynch in the upcoming 30-woman Royal Rumble would make sense. Failing that, then the company has countless hours of TV to get cooking on the build. Perhaps the biggest question hanging over everything is: Will the Women's Intercontinental Title be involved?

Becky recently reclaimed that prize from Maxxine Dupri, and the deposed champ appears to have moved on into a feud with old mentor Natalya. That leaves Lynch free for somebody else, and AJ would be the most logical candidate to challenge next.

Working vs. Lynch would also mark Lee's first singles outing since returning to the promotion.
