In the main event of NJPW Resurgence, Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Lance Archer to become the new IWGP United States Championship.

Following a great battle that lasted just shy of 20 minutes, New Japan's Ace hit three High Fly Flows on Archer to pick up the win and embark of his first reign with the IWGP US Title.

Post-match, Archer got on the mic and praised Tanahashi, explaining how much he respects the iconic NJPW favourite. Not just that, but the Murderhawk Monster then stated how he wants Tana to come to AEW, and when he does, Archer wants a rematch.

All of this played out while former IWGP US Champion Jon Moxley sat ringside, drinking a beer and watching the Archer vs. Tanahashi action. Once the Ace of New Japan got the win, a frustrated Mox stormed off - with that adding yet another layer of tease to possibly seeing Moxley and Tanahashi square off at some point in the (hopefully near) future.

Previously, Mox called out the eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion during a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, with some speculating that Tanahashi may end up being Moxley's opponent at next month's All Out PPV.
