How Scott Hall Changed Sting's Wrestling Career Forever

Sting's WCW, WWE, TNA and AEW careers were altered forever by Scott Hall's creativity.

"Have you ever seen The Crow?".

That one question altered Sting's entire wrestling career and changed WCW history forever. Scott Hall quizzed a bleached-blonde Stinger on his movie knowledge during a brief backstage conversation in 1996, and that started wheels turning in the anti-nWo babyface's head.

It also helped forge a connection between Hall and Sting that would last a lifetime. They were never great friends (Scott has talked about this during several shoot interviews over the years), but both men had a healthy respect for one another. Plus, Hall's creativity paved the way for the most iconic character of Sting's career.

Also, behind the scenes, Hall added: "I'm not telling you to rip off 'Taker, but rip off 'Taker".

The mystique of Sting's 'Crow' gimmick definitely mimicked the supernatural vibes of The Undertaker over in the then-WWF. Shortly after the chat, Stinger went to Eric Bischoff and WCW got things moving in a direction that was totally born from Scott spitballing pop culture ideas.

Imagine how different the nWo gimmick would've been without Sting as a counterpoint on the WCW side? What a genius move from Hall.
