Who will AJ Styles face at The Showcase of the Immortals?
WrestleMania 35 is still four months away, but the card may already be coming to fruition behind the scenes, with Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey rumoured for the main event along with two very different plans for the Universal Championship.
Now, it looks like it looks like there's something big in the works for former WWE Champion AJ Styles.
Per Joe Peisich on Barnburner's No Holds Barred podcast, WWE plan on having 'The Phenomenal One' face off against Randy Orton when 'Mania returns to the MetLife Stadium on 7 April.
Though they've teamed together several times, Styles and Orton have just one singles match on their résumé, with 'The Viper' defeated AJ to become number one contender to former ally Bray Wyatt's WWE Championship ahead of WrestleMania 33. It was a good bout, but there was some disappointment that the promotion had thrown away this 'first-time dream match' on weekly television.
Nonetheless, Orton and Styles is an exciting 'Mania 35 pairing. Randy is reborn as a performer following his psychotic break earlier this year, and AJ remains the most consistent in-ring performer in the company. Their shared skill, experience, and showmanship makes it hard to bet against them tearing the house down.
