Giovanni Vinci is a classy Italian, but he's not exactly a newcomer to NXT...

If you watch NXT 2.0, you've seen vignettes recently touting the arrival of Giovanni Vinci, a new superstar who will bring "style, class and athleticism" to the brand.

Fightful Select reports that this superstar will look awfully familiar to fans, as it will be Fabian Aichner in the role. Aichner hasn't been seen on NXT TV in a couple months. Since then, his Imperium mates have been called up to SmackDown, where tag partner Marcel Barthel was renamed Ludwig Kaiser to go along with the repackaged Gunther.

Fightful noted that the vignettes that have aired highlighting the new character show him wearing the same watch he donned during an interview with the outlet in April, which is some pretty amazing continuity... or just an amazing coincidence. Either way, it's a pretty strong clue that Aichner will come in as Vinci sometime soon.

WWE's penchant for renaming NXT superstars lately - even those like LA Knight whose monikers they created - has been frustrating at times, as it can insult your intelligence to look at someone who very clearly is the same person, now going by a new name. (Katana Chance comes to mind as one of the more egregious ones.)

It will be interesting to see if this is a fully formed new character, or just a few traits slapped onto Aichner. Regardless, getting Fabian and his athletic skills back on TV will be a great addition to NXT.
