There are bound to be surprises in the Call Your Shot gauntlet match. It's effectively IMPACT's Royal Rumble match; surprises have been a key factor since it began in 2019.

That year saw Kylie Rae, Swoggle, and the disgraced Joey Ryan enter, while last year, James Storm and Daivari joined Swoggle as surprise participants. For 2021, there is an abundance of free agents for Scott D'Amore and co. to choose from.

The likes of Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari seem like natural fits, having been constantly underutilised during their time in WWE, aside from a couple of great matches. Daivari has already returned to prominence with a decent string of performances during New Japan's recent tapings for their LA Dojo-centred Strong show, while Nese has wrestled five matches since departing the 'E.

Even outside of the mass WWE cuts, there is a great number of potentially huge surprises. Looking at Fightful's database of free agents, the likes of Homicide and JTG would go down a treat.

Given that IMPACT teased the involvement of AEW, AAA, and New Japan back at Slammiversary for this pay-per-view, perhaps the surprises will come from there. AAA is the only promotion not currently represented at the pay-per-view; throw El Hijo del Vikingo into the mix and you're fine.

As for the biggest surprise?
