Impact Wrestling Champion Brian Cage ALMOST Appeared At AEW Double Or Nothing

Who stopped Cage from appearing at AEW's big pay-per-view?

Impact Wrestling World Champion Brian Cage came within a hair of appearing at All Elite Wrestling's Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on 25 May, but it didn't come to pass.

This is according to PW Insider, who claim that multiple sources have told them that 'The Swoleverine' was scheduled to make a surprise appearance at the event - until Impact officials kyboshed the whole thing.

Cage was backstage and primed to compete as part of the Buy In pre-show's Casino Battle Royale, the winner of which was set to receive an AEW World Title shot. Unfortunately, Impact staff heard he was there, contacted their champion, and informed him that the terms of his contract prevented him from making such an appearance.

Fellow Impact employee Tommy Dreamer did participate in the match, though he isn't under contract with the company despite being part of the creative team.

Cage became Impact World Champion on 28 April's Rebellion pay-per-view. He defeated Johnny Impact that night, but remains one of the biggest names on the independent circuit while working the former TNA at the same time. Thus, it's easy to see why AEW would be interested in using him.
