Injury To AEW's Eddie Kingston Worse Than Expected

There's an unfortunate injury update on AEW's Eddie Kingston.

Having suffered what was labelled a broken leg at NJPW Resurgence earlier this month, it looks like any hopes of Eddie Kingston being cleared in time for All In have been well and truly dashed.

Initially, there was optimism that the Mad King will have recovered in time to be a part of AEW's August return to Wembley Stadion. However, PWInsider reports that the injury to Eddie is worse than expected, with Kingston having torn his ACL and his meniscus - meaning the former ROH World Champion will require surgery.

In speaking to the outlet, Kingston stated, "This is part of the game. Injuries happen. I will be back."

As for when we may see Eddie Kingston back in action and cracking skulls, PWInsider notes how the New Yorker is expected to be out for around nine months, meaning we may not see Kingston back until early 2025.

A 22-year veteran of the squared circle, Eddie has been with AEW since July 2020, debuting as a challenger to Cody Rhodes and the American Nightmare's TNT Title. Prior to his injury, Kingston was set to team with Bryan Danielson and FTR to take on the Elite in an Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing this coming Sunday. In his absence, Darby Allin - who's recovering from a broken foot and being hit by a bus - will serve as Eddie's replacement at this weekend's PPV.
