Tony Khan had a huge hand in laying out AEW's recent Blackjack Battle Royal for the company's International Title, reports Fightful Select.

The bout played out at Double Or Nothing 2023 - and saw Orange Cassidy retain his belt after a well-received closing stretch with Swerve Strickland. The same duo will now contest the belt in a singles match on this Wednesday's Dynamite, which Swerve earned by defeating fellow Blackjack participants Big Bill and Trent Beretta last week.

Fightful states that Khan played an "integral" role in laying the battle royal out. The AEW founder and President is understood to have a hand in every battle royal the promotion does, having developed "a knack" for these contests and how they work.

AEW determined the Blackjack's finished the night before. Strickland and Cassidy had some input on how it went down.

People involved in the match were happy with how things ended up playing out. Prior to this, several competitors weren't aware they'd be participating when the contest was announced, with AEW initially holding discussions over holding a more traditional Casino Battle Royale at Double Or Nothing.
