Michael Cole has decided to switch up his own role within WWE's structure.

PWInsider is reporting that Michael Cole has "pulled back from responsibilities" tied to overseeing the general announce team structure behind the scenes in WWE. It's understood that this was actually Cole's decision, but it was also one higher-ups were happy to slap a green light on.

Cole had previously been in a management role that saw him organise and lead WWE's various commentary teams. Now, he'll step back from that job completely and return to an exclusive on-air role like before. Michael will still be the lead announcer on Monday Night Raw and company PLEs going forwards.

Sue Cundaro will replace Cole in the role; Candaro had been helping MC organise everything anyway, so it should be a smooth transition into management. PWInsider's report stated that nobody behind the curtain was unhappy with Michael's decision. He has the promotion's full support.

Cole and other announcers like Corey Graves have experienced a little more freedom behind the desk since Vince McMahon left the company. It'll be interesting to see if there's any noticeable change to Michael's work now he's shed some responsibilities backstage.
