Interesting Note On Ciampa's Role At Last Night's WWE Tapings

Ciampa didn't have much to do on last night's WWE Raw show, BUT...

Ciampa is still waiting to work his first Raw match since transitioning from NXT 2.0 to WWE's main roster last month, but the former NXT Champion had a conflicting role to play on last night's tapings.

Having turned heel on the returning Mustafa Ali last week, clobbering the former 205 Live man from behind after a win over The Miz, Ciampa repeated the feat on the latest Raw. Reeling from a handicap defeat to Miz and Theory on the USA Network show, Ali was clocked by Ciampa again - this time in the ring.

Despite this, Ciampa worked as a babyface on last night's Main Event tapings. Fightful Select note that he scored a victory over Apollo Crews, a heel, for the show.

WWE's internal rundowns had Ciampa listed for a match against Finn Balor on the tapings. This would have been as a heel, which Fightful has confirmed with people inside the company.

While this flip-flopping between alignments would cause significant continuity issues if it was taking place on Raw, that Main Event is watched by a comparatively small audience and rarely, if ever, generates buzz negates this somewhat. Nonetheless, it'll be a jarring watch for people who tune into both shows.
