Io Shirai took a crazy bump while competing in last night's Scareway to Hell ladder match on NXT's Halloween Havoc special.

Shoved from a ladder that had been set up in the ring, she fell all the way to the outside and came crashing down on another that had been propped between the apron and announce table. Rotating in the air, she hit the ladder back (and potentially neck) first, slumping to the floor before Indi Hartwell and Gigi Dolin contested the match's finish.

The bump led to understandable concern amongst those watching, though PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that the Japanese star was okay backstage after the bout.

Shirai and partner Zoey Stark lost their NXT Tag Team Championships in the match. Dolin and Toxic Attraction stablemate Jacy Jayne were victorious, striking gold on what turned out to be a successful night for the trio, with Mandy Rose unseating NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez later on.

Stark and Shirai had reigned since NXT's Great American Bash 2021 special on 6 July, where they defeated Candice LeRae and Hartwell to take the gold. Their 112-day run encompassed two successful defences.
