Is THIS Wrestler The Future Of AEW's Women's Division?

Cody Rhodes certainly thinks so...

Expect Red Velvet to play a big part in AEW's women's division going forward.

Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes had plenty of positive things to say about the up-and-comer during today's Full Gear media conference call, saying that Velvet will likely become a fixture after emerging through her regular enhancement role on Dark.

Cody's comments came following a question from the Miami Herald's Jim Varsallone, who asked about who came up with the Dark concept and what the YouTube series' goal was.

Velvet currently has 12 matches on her AEW record after debuting on the 16 June episode of Dark. She had lost every single one of those up until 12 October, when she beat Elayna Black to go 1-9, and followed this with another win as she and Brandi Rhodes teamed to face Black and Leyla Hirsch. That momentum screeched to a halt on last night's Dynamite, with Nyla Rose shellacking Velvet in under two minutes.

Brandi and Velvet connected after facing each other in September, finding mutual enemies in Tay Conti and Anna Jay. That affiliation, coupled with Cody's comments today, will likely serve her well as she progresses in AEW.
