Jade Cargill Legitimately Injured, OUT For At Least Three Months (WWE News)

Jade Cargill is expected to be out of WWE action for at least three months after suffering a legitimate injury covered by an angle on last week's SmackDown.

Dave Meltzer writes for the Wrestling Observer that the Women's Tag Team Champion is hurt, though there's no word on the severity. People in WWE's creative department have been informed Cargill will be out for "a minimum of three months, maybe longer," hence the attempt to write her off last Friday.

The SmackDown angle involved a beaten-up Cargill being shown lying on a car bonnet and windscreen, with the implication being that she'd been driven through the windscreen. The culprit hasn't yet been revealed, giving WWE an instant story for Jade to jump into whenever she is ready to return.

WWE issued a storyline update on Cargill's condition after SmackDown, listing a string of kayfabe injuries on WWE.com:

“After suffering a mysterious attack on SmackDown, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill has been diagnosed with numerous injuries including deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, a sprained MCL in her right knee, a tibial plateau bone bruise of her right knee, and facial lacerations. There is no timetable for her return at this time. Make sure to follow all WWE social media platforms as this story develops.”

Beyond this, the exact nature of Jade's injury (or injuries) has not been revealed.

Jade Cargill Out Of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames PLE

Jade Cargill's WWE injury posed two immediate questions:

1. Who will take her place at Survivor Series 2024 (30 November)?

2. What will become of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships?

To the first, Cargill had been scheduled to team with Bianca Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley against Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae in this year's Women's WarGames match. It has since been confirmed that Bayley will take her place. On tonight's Raw, Belair and Jax will wrestle to determine which team has the order advantage in the double-ring cell match.

The Women's Tag Team Title situation was unresolved at the time of writing. Cargill and Belair are in their second reign, having regained the belts on 31 August. If Jade is to be out for a considerable length of time, WWE may consider stripping her and Belair of the titles so that they may be defending while Cargill is out. As a prominent ally of Belair and Cargill this year, Naomi could conceivably step up in Jade's absence, partnering Bianca, though WWE is yet to confirm what will happen.
