AEW Dynamite's ratings were solid across the board last week, though one specific match's numbers stood out as particularly impressive.
On an episode (5 January) that drew an average of 1.010 million viewers across its two hours (as originally reported by Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston), Jade Cargill vs. Ruby Soho peaked at 1.2 million viewers (including 650,000 in the key 18-49 demographic). This, as pointed out in today's Figure Four Online/Wrestling Observer Daily Update, is per the minute-by-minute ratings which aren't always reportedly publically.
Dynamite's 0.43 P18-49 rating was enough for it to finish second on the night amongst original cable telecasts.
Cargill vs. Soho was the culmination of the TBS Title tournament, which stretched all the way back to 23 October 2021, when Ruby defeated Penelope Ford in the first match. She had to go through one extra bout to make the finals while Jade was given a first-round bye as a reward for her lofty position in the company's rankings when the competition was announced.
In victory, Jade remains undefeated in AEW. The inaugural TBS Champion is currently sitting on an indomitable 23-0 win/loss record.
