Janel Grant's Camp Responds To Brock Lesnar's Return At WWE SummerSlam
Spokesperson for woman implicating Brock in a sex trafficking suit weighs in on his return Sunday.
Brock Lesnar simultaneously stunned and polarized the wrestling world Sunday when he returned to WWE at SummerSlam, 19 months after being named in an ongoing sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE.
Lesnar appeared after the main event, in which Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship, flattening Cena with an F-5. It was Brock's first appearance on WWE programming since SummerSlam 2023. He had been planned for a spot in the 2024 Royal Rumble, but he was scratched and essentially blacklisted after it was revealed that his name appeared more than 40 times in a suit Janel Grant filed against McMahon and WWE alleging sexual abuse and human trafficking.
According to the suit, McMahon is alleged to have attempted human trafficking Ms. Grant to Lesnar as part of the former UFC Heavyweight Champion's WWE contract negotiations of that time. It's also alleged that McMahon wanted to introduce Brock as a new "playmate" in his relationship with Ms. Grant.
Brock's return Sunday after seemingly being on WWE's "no-fly" list was widely blasted by fans, critics and wrestling reporters, though a sizable portion of WWE's fanbase rallied to support the Beast.
According to Fightful, in response, a spokesperson for Janel Grant issued the following statement:
For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE’s leadership. Instead of righting this wrong, WWE has done nothing to ensure those responsible are held accountable. This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire. We look forward to the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law where they belong but, in the meantime, we refer you back to Janel Grant’s updated complaint, which outlines, in detail, the abuse she endured by McMahon and others while employed at WWE.
Coming after WWE seemingly brushed off any concerns about an ongoing suit alleging horrific behavior by the company's former higher-ups and stars, the statement from Ms. Grant's camp struck a tone of defiance, almost suggesting that WWE and Lesnar worsened their position by bringing Brock back.
