A new alliance between Elias and Jaxson Ryker formed on last night's Main Event.

Jaxson Ryker is back on WWE television for the first time since May, having aligned himself with Elias on last night's episode of Main Event.

Elias and Ryker appeared at the top of the show. It looked very much like a typical Elias segment, as he had his guitar with him, until the duo were interrupted by R-Truth. The confrontation eventually came to nothing, with no match booked.

Here's a shot of Elias and Ryker together:-

The timing of Ryker's comeback is interesting, given his former Forgotten Sons partners, Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler, returned alongside 'King' Baron Corbin on last week's SmackDown. A report stating that Ryker could be part of WWE's next round of releases followed, though the Main Event appearance suggests that the former Impact Wrestling man isn't on WWE's cut list for now.

A new Fightful Select report states that WWE booked the Elias/Ryker segment as a "dry run" to see how the duo would work together. This would explain the lack of significant storyline development.

Ryker and his fellow Forgotten Sons were removed from television when Jaxson made the boneheaded decision to use heightened racial tensions in the United States to further his pro wrestling character in May, drawing huge backstage flak.
