Jim Ross is making no secret of his wishes to call the upcoming WWE Universal Title match between Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe at the Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view on July 9.

Posting a blog on his official website, the WWE Hall Of Fame announcer said he was personally looking forward to seeing the showdown, and then admitted he was "fishing" for the opportunity to sit at ringside for it.

Ross's latest contribution to WWE came as part of the Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. The legend was also enlisted to narrate the action for what could be The Undertaker's last match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.

During a live 'Ringside With Jim Ross' event before 'Mania 31 in 2015, JR had predicted the match would happen before too long. Now, he has his wish, and there will be few fan complaints if WWE allow Ross the chance to call Raw's next pay-per-view main event.

Any match JR announces instantly has more of a big fight feel to it. That's what WWE will want for Lesnar vs. Joe, so the iconic play-by-play man would be a welcome addition.
