Jimmy Snuka Reportedly Has Six Months To Live
Former WWE superstar is suffering from terminal stomach cancer.
Jimmy Snuka's attorney, Robert Kirwan, said Friday that his client is currently in hospice care with terminal stomach cancer, and is only expected to live another six months. The news comes while Lehigh County Judge Kelly Banach is deciding whether the former WWE star will be competent to stand trial for the 1983 murder of Nancy Argentino.
Snuka, who was first diagnosed with stomach cancer in August of 2015, was charged the following month with the murder of Argentino. For years, Snuka was suspected of culpability in the death of his girlfriend, who had - according to him - slipped and hit her head on a rock, resulting in a trauma that caused her death. Autopsy reports, however, showed Argentino had numerous injuries consistent with domestic abuse, and coroner Wayne Snyder suspected foul play. Still, no criminal charges were filed until 32 years later.
Snuka pleaded not guilty in November of 2015, and the following May, a hearing began to assess if the 73-year-old was fit to stand trial. After arguments from the defense that head trauma suffered during his long wrestling career had led to dementia, Banach declared Snuka incompetent, but said a new hearing would be held in six months.
She is now reviewing Snuka's medical records before deciding how to proceed.
