John Cena Vs. Kevin Owens US Title Match Added To WWE Battleground

Plus two more title matches added to the show.

John Cena accepted Kevin Owens' challenge for a US Title match during Raw on Monday and it will take place at WWE Battleground in St. Louis on July 19. This will be the third match in the Cena/Owens series. Owens won the first match at Elimination Chamber and then Cena won the second match at Money in the Bank. Both of those matches were not for titles, so the Battleground bout is different for that reason. Even though Owens is the current NXT Champion, his title won't be on the line likely because he's expected to drop it to Finn Balor on July 4 at a WWE event in Japan. The two rivals had a verbal altercation this week where Cena commented that while Owens is a good wrestler, he's not a good person. Owens didn't seem too fazed by it and claimed that Cena really only cared about getting the support the fans. They have a completely different style in terms of how they get things done with Cena talking about respect while Owens really only cares about the results and getting the job done. There were two other matches announced on Raw that will take place at Battleground: - Ryback defends the Intercontinental Title against Big Show and The Miz in a triple threat match. - The Prime Time Players defend the Tag Team Titles against former champions The New Day. In addition to those matches, Battleground will have Seth Rollins defending the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns battling Bray Wyatt. There will likely be another two or three matches added to the show as well.
