Some wrestling matches come out of nowhere to shock fans, becoming underrated classics. Other times, all of the circumstances seem to be creating a classic before the competitors even step in the ring, setting the stage for a clash that will always be remembered. John Cena's battle with CM Punk at Money in the Bank 2011 falls neatly into the latter category.

Punk turned WWE upside down with his "pipe bomb" promo, criticizing the company's administration and hierarchy and running afoul of Vince McMahon. CM Punk was already the number one contender to the WWE Title and to make things even more complicated, his contract was coming to an end. He vowed to defeat Cena for the belt at Money in the Bank and then leave the company as champion.

The match took place in Punk's hometown of Chicago, meaning that the crowd was rabidly in his favor. Cena kept his cool and wrestled the best match he could, with the threat of Punk humiliating him and dishonoring the title ever present. When McMahon and John Laurinaitis came to ringside to screw Punk out of the title, Cena attacked Laurinaitis. That gave Punk the opening to hit the Go 2 Sleep, win the WWE Title, and finish one of the best matches in WWE history.
