WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select are warning that John Cena's upcoming "history-making" announcement at Backlash on Saturday in Tampa could end up being a colossal disappointment. According to their report, "the internal expectation" for Cena's reveal is that it'll be tied to the new Club WWE initiative.

Club WWE aims to offer premium memberships to the fanbase, and is being internally touted as the "ultimate insider" for people who want to squeeze just a little more from their experience at shows. This boils down to exclusive merchandise, early access to pre-sales for tickets to live events, and other bells and whistles like unspecified behind the curtain content.

WWE reportedly view John as the ideal candidate to lead the charge on this and get people pumped for it. However, TKO better hope that Cena's announcement doesn't play before boos at Backlash. This is also the second consecutive PLE he's hosted (he fulfilled the same role across both nights at WrestleMania 42), so things won't feel as special this time around.

Many had wondered why the company decided they needed a guest host for a 'B' tier PLE in the first place. Club WWE - that's why. One source told WrestleVotes/Fightful that it's "a huge boost" to have Cena involved. When asked if they thought his reveal would be anything to do with a future 'Mania location, that same source said: "Probably not".

So, Club WWE it is then. It'll be real interesting to see how something like that goes over in front of a live crowd.
