Jon Moxley will face Konosuke Takeshita in what is being billed as an AEW Interim World Championship eliminator bout this week.

AEW CEO and founder Tony Khan announced the match via Twitter on Monday. That Eddie Kingston defeated Takeshita on last week's Rampage means this isn't for the Interim World Championship, though the Japanese star will be granted one should he win.

Takeshita vs. Moxley takes place on this Wednesday's special Fyter Fest episode of Dynamite.

This will be Takeshita's 14th AEW match to date and his 11th on his latest excursion, which commenced in April. The 27-year-old generally loses on television, having fallen to Jay Lethal, 'Hangman' Adam Page, and Kingston since coming in, with all of his victories taking place on Dark and Dark: Elevation. Nonetheless, Takeshita has left a strong impression on AEW fans with his dynamic, impactful in-ring style and physical charisma, with Moxley representing his biggest opportunity to date.

Considered amongst the finest wrestlers in Japan, Takeshita announced a year-long excursion in the United States prior to returning to AEW in the Spring. The DDT star will, however, return to his home company for its biggest show of the year, Wrestle Peter Pan, on 20 August.
