Jon Moxley In-Ring Return Set For June "...If Not Earlier"
The former Dean Ambrose is back on the road...
Jon Moxley will officially redebut on the independent scene in June - or possibly even before then - according to the May 6 Wrestling Observer.
The artist formerly known as Dean Ambrose relaunched his old gimmick with a teaser trailer earlier this week, and Observer scribe Dave Meltzer confirmed that he'd be reintroducing the persona between the ropes next month. He said, "We have heard the story, [Moxley] will be on the indies starting sometime in June if not earlier. He’s supposed to have bookings with a number of different promotions which will be announced shortly. The only thing is on the indies [is that] he can probably command several thousand per match, do meet and greets for more if he wants, and work as much or as little as he wants to with almost complete control of everything."
Speculation remains rife on what his next major move will be beyond these dates, with All Elite Wrestling and, oddly enough, WWE both posited as possible destinations by those divided on if his recent departure is a shoot or an elaborate work.
Meltzer speculated that New Japan Pro Wrestling may even be a viable option, noting that "...WWE gave him such a strong sendoff [because] they believe he’s coming back at some point. I don’t believe they’d do that if they thought he was going to either NJPW or AEW, but his contract is up and he didn’t have to get a release, so he can do whatever he wants, and one would think NJPW and AEW would both be on the table. They kept throwing more and more money at him to get him to sign, and he kept turning it down to the point they realized he was determined to get out and they couldn’t stop him."
Moxley himself has yet to confirm the dates and locations himself, but this information is likely to follow as he continues to enhance his brand during a particularly fertile time for talent.
