Jon Moxley To Miss Major NJPW G1 Climax Show In Dallas, Texas

The IWGP United States Champion won't be in the house on 6 July.

New Japan Pro Wrestling's signature G1 Climax tournament kicks off in Dallas, Texas on 6 July, but Jon Moxley won't be on the show.

This is according to a writeup on the promotion's English language website stating that not only will Moxley miss the opening day, but he won't be at the G1 Climax 29 press conference the day before either, and will instead join the tour in Tokyo on 13 July.

An odd, odd move from NJPW, this. While the Dallas show promises to be a huge night (and one would therefore expect Moxley to be present and correct), the 33-year-old wasn't being advertised for the event in the first place. He's a B Block competitor, this is an A Block show, and with no sign of his first opponent, Taichi, Moxley wasn't even booked for an undercard tag match.

Did the lineup need Jon Moxley? Probably not, as it'll be closed by Kota Ibushi vs. KENTA and the latest instalment of Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi's legendary feud, though having him around certainly wouldn't have hurt. Perhaps this is a simple case of the date clashing with one of Mox's outside bookings, whether it be AEW or elsewhere.
