Jon Moxley Vs. Lance Archer Set For AEW Dynamite Anniversary Special

A war for the AEW World Title on 14 October.

Jon Moxley Lance Archer
AEW

Lance Archer will challenge for Jon Moxley's AEW World Championship on 14 October, the promotion has announced.

The match was made on last night's episode of Dynamite. 'The Murderhawk Monster' earned his shot by winning All Out's Casino Battle Royale, with the Moxley bout effectively secured when Jon defeated MJF in the pay-per-view main event. Their bout goes down on a Dynamite's one-year anniversary special - the show debuted on 2 October 2019.

Both men cut promos on each other last night, with Archer claiming he was sick and tried of Mox's lengthy reign. Moxley, meanwhile, said that one must crawl through crap and climb a mountain afterwards to become World Champion, asking Lance if he really wants to bet against him right now.

An interesting facet of this is Eddie Kingston, who (rightly) pointed out last night that he wasn't technically eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale. This could lead to complications prior to the anniversary show.

Though this will be the first time Archer and Moxley have wrestled in AEW, they fought each other in NJPW earlier this year, with Mox capturing the IWGP United States Championship from Lance at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January.
