Keith Lee Files Interesting New Trademark Applications For Wrestling Return

Keith Lee is yet to re-emerge in professional wrestling following his WWE release last year, but it looks like the former NXT Champion is trying to lock his gimmick down.

The 37-year-old has filed two separate trademark applications for 'Limitless' (I, II) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, seeking the marks for the following purposes:-

IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality in the field of professional wrestling and sports for entertainment purposes. The first application was filed on 16 January and the second on 20 January.

While the first category listed above clearly applies to professional wrestling, the other two suggest Lee has something else in mind as well, perhaps involving educational software development.

Released by WWE on 4 November 2021, Lee remains bound to a standard WWE 90-day non-compete clause preventing him from signing or appearing for other promotions before 2 February 2022. His 'Limitless' gimmick predates his WWE run by several years and, having plied his trade on the indies for 13 years prior to signing with the world's biggest promotion, it looks Lee is going to keep the shtick going.
