Kenny Omega is the new AAA Mega Champion, having defeated Rey Fenix for the promotion's top strap at the Heroes Inmortales XIII event in Veracruz, Mexico on Saturday night.

It was a hard-hitting and hyperathletic contest between two of All Elite Wrestling's standout performers. Not a minute was wasted as they hopped straight into the action, and while not quite in the upper echelon of all-time great Omega bouts, it was another strong performance from 'The Best Bout Machine,' who has looked great in recent clashes with Joey Janela and Jon Moxley/PAC (with Hangman Page).

Omega has now promised to take his new prize to AEW, as he explained to AAA's Hugo Savinovich in a post-match interview:-

"I've always been a man who said to make history everywhere I go," he told Savinovich. "That title, the Mega Championship, you might see it back in Mexico, but you will, I promise you, you will see it in AEW."

Fenix was AAA Mega Champion for 420 days, having defeated Brian Cage, Rich Swann, and Jeff Jarrett for the strap back in August 2018. Despite this, he mounted just two defences throughout his reign.
