Long-time WWE producer Billy Kidman returned to his role on this past Friday's SmackDown taping, according to a report from PWInsider.

The former WCW star was placed on furlough by his employers back in April, as the company looked to make savings in response to the burgeoning pandemic sweeping the nation.

He was one of several backstage personnel placed on leave in spring who have recently been welcomed back into the fold. In mid-June, fellow producer Pat Buck resumed his duties, alongside a number of agents. The influx of returning staff was cited as a reason for the positivity which surrounded WWE's locker room ahead of SummerSlam last month.

Kidman, 46, was drafted into WWE as a performer when Vince McMahon completed the purchase of WCW in 2001. Though primarily limited to the undercard due to his stature, he nevertheless dominated the cruiserweight scene, bagging the championship four times during his run. He also claimed a tag strap alongside Paul London.

After winding his active career down in 2007, he was enlisted as a trainer in former developmental territory FCW, before transitioning into a role in the company's production truck.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
