La Luchadora has caused quite the stir on WWE SmackDown Live these past few weeks.

It started on December 20th, when Becky Lynch first donned the blue and spandex to sneak a win over Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, then took a turn the following week when Lynch was herself distracted by the mystery woman.

Last night's steel cage match between Bliss and Lynch was supposed to keep La Luchadora out, but it didn't. She entered the ring just as it looked like Alexa was about to lose her title, and after ensuring Bliss' victory, La Luchadora was unmasked as Mickie James.

It was the first time James had appeared on main roster television since leaving WWE in 2010, but she was reintroduced to the company's ecosystem in November. Mickie wrestled Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship at TakeOver: Toronto, and while she was unsuccessful, WWE decided to offer her a new multi-year contract shortly after.

James is a six-time WWE Women's/Divas Champion, and she'll give the SmackDown women's division some much-needed depth. Her match with Asuka proves that she's still more than capable of putting on a great match, and her return opens the possibility of fresh new matches with the likes of Becky.
