Adam Cole had not signed a new WWE contract as of yesterday (30 August).

This is according to Fightful Select, who report that the 32-year-old is "100% a free agent" after his short-term deal expired on Friday 27 October. Cole's original WWE contract expired in July, though he signed a brief extension after agreeing to work for the promotion through SummerSlam 2021 weekend, allowing him to wrestle Kyle O'Reilly at NXT TakeOver 36 (22 August).

The former NXT Champion is now expected to field offers from a number of different promotions.

It was reported last week that WWE considers Cole "done" internally unless a new deal is struck, which isn't out of the question. Expanding on this, a new report from PWInsider's Mike Johnson states that the company has sent out an internal member informing staff that Cole is no longer with the company, his four-year tenure seemingly over - at least for now.

Cole has been heavily linked to AEW since news of his expiring contract broke a few weeks ago. Tony Khan's can legally approach Adam now that he's a free agent, with Cole putting himself in a tremendous position to negotiate with multiple promotions.
