Update on Andrade El Idolo's future after AEW departure.

Andrade El Idolo is expected to re-sign with WWE following his AEW departure this past weekend, reports Fightful Select.

The former NXT Champion wrestled Miro at the Worlds End pay-per-view on 30 December, putting his rival over on his last night with AEW. Company founder and CEO Tony Khan then confirmed during the post-Worlds End media scrum that El Idolo was finishing up in Jacksonville, putting Andrade over on his way out.

Khan stated during the scrum that he'd hoped to come to a new agreement with Andrade, but the two sides couldn't reach one. With his contract now expired, Khan stated El Idolo had left AEW on a high note following the Miro bout, giving him credit for Collision's recent "great run" as well.

Andrade had been linked to the "former WWE Champion" return tease on last night's Raw. This turned out to be Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson via Jinder Mahal. Currently, there is no indication that WWE and Andrade have agreed to terms on a return, though it looks likely.

The 34-year-old last wrestled for WWE in March 2021, when he formally requested his release.
