Latest Details On Potential AEW Vs. NJPW Super Show
AEW and NJPW to hit Chicago for huge supercard on 23 June?
Tony Khan is due to make another of his "huge" announcements on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite, as confirmed on last week's show. Naturally, this has led to intense speculation on what, exactly, the AEW founder and president has up his sleeve, with everything from a Ring Of Honor distribution deal to a new signing speculated.
A potential collaborative supercard between AEW and NJPW was one such rumour, intensified by the easing of international travel restrictions. Last week, the Super J-Cast teased a potential show in Chicago, Illinois on 23 June.
Speaking on the latest Sunday Night's Main Event podcast, Dave Meltzer revealed that while nothing is confirmed, the people he had asked about the rumour didn't deny it:-
“I heard the rumors of a New Japan/AEW show and the only thing I can say is I asked and it wasn’t denied. It wasn’t confirmed and they’re not going to confirm to me the surprise. So, to me that leaves that one on the table as a potential surprise because if they are not doing that show, I believe I would have been told ‘we’re not doing that show.’ So, I think there’s smoke to that fire.”
Whatever the announcement is, expect more from AEW and Khan when Dynamite hits the airwaves tomorrow.
