NXT last night saw its second title change since it moved to the USA Network, as Lio Rush defeated Drew Gulak to claim the Cruiserweight Championship.

Lashley's former pitch man bested the incumbent champ in the episode's opener, hitting him with a Frog Splash in implicit tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero. Yesterday would have been Latino Heat's 52nd birthday.

Whilst being presented the belt by William Regal, the brand's general manager was interrupted by the beaten man. Rather than lay into Rush however, Gulak gracefully presented the victor with the belt.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines following a series of rumoured backstage altercations, Rush returned to WWE television on 18 September, exclusive to the NXT brand.

He earned a Cruiserweight Championship title shot by beating Oney Lorcan on the show.

The purple strap represents Rush' first silverware since joining WWE back in 2017.

The future of 205 Live is currently up in the air with WWE's television schedule ballooning thanks to NXT's switch to USA and its top title having been made exclusive to Full Sail. There was no episode of the de facto Cruiserweight show filmed last week.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
