Luke Harper became the latest WWE Superstar to formally request his release this week, with the news going public when the man himself posted a heartfelt "thank you" note on Twitter on Tuesday night.

The former Bludgeon Brother is yet to be let go by the company. Hardly surprising, given WWE's newfound propensity to hold on to disgruntled talent for as long as possible, but it sounds like his current contract expires this coming November.

This is according to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He notes that while WWE could theoretically hold onto Harper for six months beyond that by freezing his deal for the length of time he was out with his recent hand injury, it's unlikely that the company would do this.

While WWE are reticent to let talent go these days, that Harper went public with his request could tip their hand, as this strategy worked for Tye Dillinger earlier this year.

All Elite Wrestling looks like Harper's likeliest destination should he leave WWE, particularly as Chris Harrington - AEW's Vice President of Business Strategy - is one of his closest friends in the business. This is all speculative, though.
