Johnny Gargano is your new WWE NXT North American Champion, defeating Damian Priest and Leon Ruff in a Triple Threat at last night's TakeOver: WarGames 2020 event.

Gargano profited from multiple interferences. An army of unknowns dressed like Ghostface from the Scream film franchise got involved towards the end, though two separate squads were obliterated by Priest. Damian then appeared to have the match won, threatening to hit Gargano with his Reckoning finisher, but another Scream-masker battered him with a led pipe, allowing Johnny to hit Ruff with One Final Beat for the win.

The final Ghostface unmasked afterwards, revealing himself as Austin Theory. He seemingly joins Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell in Gargano's Scream-clad army.

Ruff's North American Title reign ended after 25 days. He had defeated Gargano to capture the strap with Priest's help on 11 November, with the outcome presented as a banana peel. Priest had previously lost the championship to Gargano at Halloween Havoc, where he was attacked by another wrestler clad in the Ghostface mask.

With this win, Gargano is now the first ever three-time NXT North American Champion - and still the only person to hold it more than once.
