Bryan Danielson has still not been cleared to return to the ring after suffering an injury while competing in AEW's inaugural Anarchy in the Arena match at Double Or Nothing 2022 (29 May).

In an update, Dave Meltzer reports (on the Saturday Night's Main Event podcast) that AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan is to be more cautious in how he uses Danielson going forward, hence why he hasn't allowed the Blackpool Combat Club man to return yet.

Danielson is believed to have recovered from his latest concussion. Khan not clearing him personally is why the 41-year-old hasn't returned to the ring yet, with the AEW chief focused on ensuring Bryan is as healthy as possible for his wife, Brie Bella, and their daughter, Birdie.

An inter-promotional technical wrestling dream match pitting Danielson against NJPW's Zack Sabre Jr. had been mooted for the 26 June Forbidden Door pay-per-view, though Bryan's lack of clearance prevented him from competing there. Debutant Claudio Castagnoli (who now joins Danielson in the Blackpool Combat Club) ended up taking his place.

Currently, there is no word on when Bryan will be cleared to return to AEW.
