Major Update On Will Ospreay's AEW Return After Dynamite Vignette (AEW News)
AEW's segment on Will Ospreay got fans hyped for a return, but things aren't straightforward.
Wrestling Observer head Dave Meltzer has thrown cold water all over hopes that Will Ospreay will be returning to action imminently. AEW hyped Ospreay with a video package on this week's edition of Dynamite, but that was done to spotlight Will's successful surgery after suffering a nasty neck/spinal injury last year.
The company simply want to get some hype going as soon as possible, but they're not expecting to have Ospreay back in the ring for a good while. Meltzer reported that the popular workhorse will "start very light training this month", and plans are to ease him back into things somewhere around All In on 30 August.
That pay-per-view returns to Wembley Stadium in London, England this year (it took place in Arlington, Texas last summer), so it'd certainly be the ideal place for Ospreay to launch his comeback. It is, however, worth saying that even late-August seems rather quick and hopeful considering the intense surgery Will sustained.
He'll be more determined than ever to get back in the ring and show his stuff, especially if a major spot is up for grabs at All In. AEW and Ospreay himself will clearly want to be very careful with his physical condition though - that spinal injury was no joke.
The worst case scenario would be Will rushing himself back into the mix too soon. His long term health is the most important thing here, not pro wrestling or any pay-per-view.
During the aforementioned vignette on Dynamite, Ospreay spoke passionately about how much he loves wrestling and loves being part of All Elite.
