In a follow-up to a story from this past weekend, Matt Cardona has confirmed that he requires surgery for a torn bicep.

For those who missed it, this injury occurred during Cardona's match against Blake Christian at GCW Downward Spiral on Saturday. There, the current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion damaged his bicep when attempting to catch Christian on a dive.

Rather than hosting a planned afterparty event later that night, Cardona immediately took a red-eye flight to Orlando, Florida to get his arm checked out. Now, the one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion has taken to Twitter to update his fans that an MRI scan revealed a torn bicep that will require surgery.

It's not known at this stage how long Matt Cardona will be out of action for, although this situation clearly throws up plentiful questions where it pertains to next month's NWA Alwayz Ready PPV.

A show named in honour of Cardona, 11 June's Alwayz Ready was to have the former GCW World Champion defend his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title against Nick Aldis. Clearly this bicep tear puts that bout in severe doubt of being able to take place.
