Matthew Jackson: 'A Lot Of People Take AEW For Granted'

One of The Young Bucks thinks AEW's "unprecedented" growth deserves more love from wrestling fans.

The fact these comments come from AEW's own Unrestricted podcast should drop hints that Matthew Jackson was (at least partly) in character throughout the chat, but his comments will ruffle a few feathers regardless.

Jackson told the pod that AEW's "unprecedented" rise within five years is something "a lot of people take for granted". This Young Buck doesn't think the promotion gets nearly enough credit for what "a baby company has done in half a decade".

Here's where the kayfabe kicked in.

Matt also said, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, that he and his brother Nicholas were solely responsible for everything good about All Elite Wrestling. He then went on to say that they'd only appreciate their efforts once they're old men looking back on their careers.

Of course, Jackson knows exactly what he's doing here. The Bucks' current EVP characters are supposed to be obnoxious, and he knows some will quickly point out that AEW's TV ratings, live event attendances and more are all hardly metrics going in the right direction.

He harped on the 'AEW doesn't get enough credit for growing within five years' thread though.
